Tommy Tippee Bottles

We tried every bottle on the market when trying to get Jacob to eat in the NICU from Avent to Playtex, and even the Medela special needs feeder. It seemed we were never going to get him off the feeding tube.

We first started using the Gerber nipple, then tried the Medela bottle/nipple combination. But, we continued to notice that his tongue, due to macroglossia, was below the nipple ring. So when he tried to use his tongue to extract the milk, there was barely enough pressure being placed on the nipple.

We searched for a bottle with a wide-based nipple. We tried the Avent natural, but that didn't seem wide enough, and the nipple collapsed too easily. We were just about to give up looking when I noticed the Tommy Tippee bottle. The nipple base was extremely wide, and the nipple was long enough to get past his tongue.

I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to see him finally take a full feed easily and effortlessly! It was amazing to find that the right nipple and bottle combination could make such a huge difference for our babies with macroglossia. I know that every child is unique, and your baby might already be feeding fine on their bottle. But, if you are experiencing hour-long feeds, constant choking, and a baby who refuses to eat, then give the Tommy Tippee a try. It may do wonders for you as it did for us!
